Estuary

High Tide Poets are currently involved in Estuary, an Arts Council funded cross arts project, co-led by Lydia and artist Colin Riches. This is based on the western Yar Estuary and tracks the landscape through the seasons. High Tide Poets are taking part in cross arts workshops on site throughout 2011 and until February 2012.

Houses and Homes

Houses and Homes was the theme of National Poetry Day for 2010. In response to the opening line 'I chose this house because...' High Tide Poets wrote an interesting mix of poems.

Quay Voices

Hightide Poets had the most fabulous talk from Bill Shepard whose family have run businesses from Newport Quay since 1376 (the first lease granted).  Bill is a wonderful man, now 88, still writing and giving talks, he's really Mr. Newport.  This was the start of a project called Quay Voices.

Wild Things

Wild woods image

A project in which we consider the wild side of things.

Cities

Cities image

A project in which we, as rural island dwellers, see city life…. impressions….experiences....

Riverlines

We worked on a RIVERLINES project, visiting and writing about the Island’s rivers in conjunction with photographer Dick Davis – and produced a wonderful set of photographs incorporating our texts.

Informal Writing

We have had afternoons in a member’s garden overlooking the sea when we write poetry and socialise.

Events

We made several appearances in the Ryde festival and at St. Mary’s hospital events. An event on Ryde sands and its beach huts we called Beach Hut Boogie and involved poetry, games, banners and a giant parachute on the sand.

Anthology

We contributed to the OFFSHORE POETS anthology.

Writing Days

We have been on writing days to Northcourt, a beautiful 16th century house set in wonderful landscape and gardens.
