Come and enjoy writing with this small friendly group. We meet every Monday afternoon from 2pm to 3.30pm in the Green Room at Quay Arts, Newport, Isle of Wight. The group is facilitated by tutor Lydia Fulleylove and everyone is welcome, whatever your experience, to join our sessions.

2009: 

We worked on a theme of 'Wild Places', not simply referring to nature but to the wild places within the mind. We also extended work into prose as well as poetry and experimenting with different forms all the time under the guidance of Lydia Fulleylove.

We also held sessions of practical criticism of our own work and of other poets. We have had several shared sessions with members of the Albany Writers in HMP Isle of Wight, enjoying the chance to listen to and discuss each other's work on the theme of wild places.

We gained new members and others move on but we have to report the sad death of our Treasurer Christine Petters. She saw us into independence after Healing Arts ceased support and was an enthusiastic member of the group. We miss her and were able to make a tribute at her funeral. Mark Mordey has kindly taken on this important job.

We have been extremely fortunate to receive a grant from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation which will keep us running for two years.
