Quay Arts Centre

The group meets weekly on
Mondays at 2pm in the Green Room at Quay Arts, Newport, Isle of Wight.

High Tide Poets are successors to the Green Room Poets who were funded for several years by Southern Arts and the Isle of Wight Health Care Trust. In 2006 both withdrew their funding but all members were desperate to continue working together.

We applied for grants from organisations and were delighted when The Southern Co-operative Foundation agreed to help us. Subsequently we received funding from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Fund and are immensely grateful for allowing us to engage a tutor and continue working and equally grateful to Quay Arts Centre, Newport, Isle of Wight for granting us a room free of charge for our weekly sessions.

We are a community group happily working across the arts and active in local multi-arts events. Green Room Poets were established to help patients in St. Mary’s and Sevenacres hospital in their convalescence and we maintain this link but open it to all others who are interested.

Those who attend all feel this is a friendly group, welcoming all and celebrating diversity. We work to improve our poetry skills and express ourselves in the best way we can, offering constructive criticism in a spirit of partnership and are also enthusiastic when new members join.

Welcome!
